Maria Fernanda Garcia

Maria Fernanda Garcia is a Colombian musician and pedagogue.  She started singing in her church choir when she was just a little girl.  She attended the National Pedagogic University where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Musical Pedagogy in 2007, studying vocal technique and flute. She was part of the choir of the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Opera of Bogota, Colombia.  She was also fascinated by Latin popular music of different genres, like jazz, bossa nova, salsa and joined Latin bands performing as soloist. Maria has gained experience working in various educational institutes in Colombia, specializing in the teaching of music with children of all ages.

Based in Dubai since 2007, she has been a vocal, piano and flute teacher at the Popular Music Institute, preparing students for London College of Music, ABRSM and Trinity Examinations, and performed for television shows by MBC1 and Jazz festival 2010-2011.

In 2010, she passed with distinction on the TVU Advanced Graded Examination in music performance/ popular music vocals. She joined GEMS Music Hub in 2012.
